The Most Valuable Startups in San Francisco

There are 14 startups in San Francisco with a valuation of $1 billion or more led by Dropbox with a $10 billion valuation.

A few thoughts:

The list is dominated by several "on-their-way-to-being household names" companies: Dropbox, Square, Pinterest, Uber, and Airbnb. No surprises here.
Several different business models are represented: payments / transaction fees (4); subscriptions (3); hardware (1); advertising (1), services (1), finance / lending (1). The valuations are indicative of a group of companies with solid, proven business models and some proof that they can scale. It'd be interesting to compare this list to the list from 1999.
The are no Enterprise-type SaaS companies represented on the list. DocuSign checks in at $1.6 billion, but their service scales from individuals up to enterprises.
